Sunnie is a licensed mental health and addictions therapist specializing in perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, and substance use. Sunnie is passionate about providing and servicing compassionate and culturally sensitive care to women of color. With a certification in Perinatal Mental Health, Sunnie recognizes the unique challenges faced by women during the perinatal period. She is dedicated to supporting clients’ mental and emotional well-being through a feminist approach that empowers and validates their experiences.
Grounded in existential and humanistic philosophies, Sunnie believes in the inherent worth and potential of every individual. This perspective informs a therapeutic practice that prioritizes authenticity, self-awareness, and personal growth. By integrating Person-Centered Therapy, Sunnie creates a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can explore their feelings and experiences.
Utilizing Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-Based modalities, Sunnie helps clients develop effective coping strategies, build resilience, and achieve meaningful change. ACT supports clients in embracing their thoughts and feelings without judgment while committing to actions that align with their values. CBT focuses on identifying and challenging unhelpful thoughts and behaviors, promoting healthier thinking patterns. Mindfulness-Based approaches enhance clients' ability to stay present and cultivate self-compassion.
